Taiwan here we go (there we went)

So, I have not written in a while, but this I really want to write cause I want to keep the details while they are fresh in my mind. So the topic of the next few post will be the trip to Taiwan to visit Alex :D YEEES!

In resume it was a GREAT SUCCESS! Now, the extended version goes something like this:

First, since the beginning I had always the impression that something was going to go wrong, either getting the visa, or the plane tickets, or the plane, or something. Maybe even dying in the process, I was really stressed I think.

When getting the visa first I was sure I was going to get robbed before getting to the Taiwanese consulate, then maybe I would forgot some papers, but gladly no. Everything went smooth, I even got to hang around in Mexico city one evening (pictures in the pictures of Mexico album of march) and I got the visa the next day.

Then, the plane ticket, not so problematic either. Although the toghts were there also. Somethings going to go wrong, etc etc. But no.

Then the actual day of the flight. Very normal trip to Munich (I was flying Munich - Viena - Taipei), no problem. I arrived on time on the terminal, I even had time to have a weissewurstel and a capuccino.

Ahh but at the time of check-in, tata! "Sorry, didn't they told u that you flight got canceled? No? Oh.... well they should have... they moved you to another flight but it was much earlier so you just lost it" "Damn you!" OK I didn't say that but I thought it. Then here comes the nice thing. They are telling me, "well, dont worry I can get you in this other flight which has almost the same itinerary and you will get there almost at the same time, just 30 mins difference" "Perfect, lets do that, but u know what, I read that if the flight gets canceled there is some kind of compensation. Would it be possible to move my return trip to a later date?" YES!! and after that, jackpot, I just had to confirm with Diego (my supervisor) later and I was able to stay with Alex 3 weeks and a couple of days instead of the initial 9 days. Poor poor Alex, she got stucked with me for almost a month! Great success! :D

After that, everything went smooth. Planes, immigration, everything good. Everything until the language. They lost it, first time in my life it happened. But again, it was even good cause when I reported it, the guy allowed me to call Alex (since he couldn't talk to me properly cause I don't know Chinese) and it turned out that she was in the wrong terminal, so I let her know were I was and, tata! 15 minutes later, we were hugging as I was wanting already for too long :D. At the end we got the suitcase delivered to the hotel, no problem, nothing stole, tutto soto controlo. I just had to wear the same cloths for 2 days :D, not too much, there was this small little issue with Alex passing out cause of my smell, but nothing serious ;).

In Taipei, the first day we immediately went out. Although late, we wandered near the hotel area and we saw a little bit of Taipei. We were looking for some place to eat and ended in a nice place were there was a lady playing the piano for us. The food was not very good but the company was. We even had real coconut water, go figure. I was really happy, I really needed to see her.

Aaaaand, that's it for now. Tomorrow, first full day in Taipei and some of the rest ;). Ohhhh, "Taiwan touch your hearth", its true!
